NEW MUSEUM SHOP AT OHIO STATEHOUSE TO OPEN AUGUST 13
First 150 Visitors Will Receive Free Gift

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board will open the newly constructed Statehouse Museum Shop at 10 a.m. on August 13, 2008. The Museum Shop will remain open until 5:30 p.m. on its first day of business. The public is invited to participate in the celebration and grand opening. The first 150 visitors will receive a special free gift. The grand opening will feature numerous activities, door prize drawings, product sampling and special discounts.
The brand new 1,440 square foot Museum Shop showroom, located on the ground floor of the Statehouse, provides a unique, visually pleasing shopping experience, and offers a variety of Ohio themed gifts and souvenirs. The Museum Shop specializes in unique gifts with an Ohio or political theme. Most gifts are made by Ohio artists or businesses, and many items are exclusive to the Museum Shop. Gifts range from wine and pottery to lapel pins and clothing. The Museum Shop has the perfect gift no matter what the occasion!
The Statehouse Museum Shop will close its current location today in order to move inventory into the new shop. The opening of the new Museum Shop is a major step towards the completion of the new Ohio Statehouse Museum scheduled to open in June 2009.
The Ohio Statehouse Museum Shop's Web site, www.statehouseshop.com, will continue to serve as an online resource for purchasing gifts and souvenirs. The secure Web site features a consumer friendly interface, Internet specials and easy product purchasing navigation. The site serves as a one-stop-shop for customers who want to take advantage of all of the Shop's products.
The Museum Shop will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday from12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Museum Shop will be open on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. through Labor Day weekend and closed during all holidays.
The Ohio Statehouse is more than a monument to our past; it's where history happens! The Ohio Statehouse is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed all holidays. Free guided tours are offered Monday through Friday on the hour from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., and on weekends from noon until 3 p.m. Tours depart from the Third Street Information Desk. The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) is responsible for maintaining the historic character of the Statehouse and Capitol Square while providing for the health, safety and convenience of those who work in or visit the complex. The Statehouse Museum Education Center coordinates tours of Capitol Square and provides information about the buildings, their history and Ohio's government.
