This 2001 oil painting by Ron Anderson shows Representative George Washington Williams introducing a bill on the floor of the Ohio House of Representatives in 1880. Williams was the first African-American elected to the Ohio General Assembly in 1879. Other faces in the painting are of Representatives from that time.
