Biography

June Lucas served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1986-2000. During her time in the legislature, she held appointments to the following House committees:

-Agriculture and Natural Resources,

-Energy and Environment,

-Human Resources,

-Judiciary and Criminal Justice, and

-Family Services.

 

Additionally, Rep. Lucas served on the Ohio Child Support Guidelines Advisors' Commission and the Ohio Women's Policy and Research Commission. Lucas was involved in many different civic associations, including: the Sierra Club, the Youngstown State University Labor Studies Board, the Ohio Farmers' Union, the Northeast Ohio and National Councils of Senior Citizens, the Trumbull County Democratic Executive Committee, the Mosquito Creek Development Association, and the Animal Welfare League.

 

As for her service in the legislature and her community, Lucas has been honored with the following recognitions: the Youngstown Y.W.CA. Woman of the Year, 1988; the N.E. Ohio Council of Senior Citizens Appreciation Award, 1989; the 1993 Public Official of the Year Award, Region 4, Ohio Chapter of the National Council of Social Workers; and the Ohio Association of County Boards of Mental Rehabilitation and Developmental Disabilities Legislative Leadership Award, 1993.
