Virtual Ohio Statehouse Tour - How a Bill Becomes a Law
May 19, 2021

Virtual Tour Online 2021
This month the Ohio Statehouse Museum and Education staff will present a virtual tour of the Ohio Statehouse that will focus on how our state government works. You can virtually join the tour through Facebook Live at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021.

The Ohio Statehouse: A Working Government Building

The virtual tour will feature the Ohio Statehouse as the location where state laws are made. When the Ohio Statehouse was new in 1861, all three branches of state government fit inside 53 rooms. Since then, our state and our government has grown. The judicial branch, the Supreme Court of Ohio, is in a separate building now. There are executive branch offices for the Governor and others inside the Ohio Statehouse. The historic Governor’s Office is often where the Governor signs a bill into law.

The legislative branch, the Ohio General Assembly, continues to make laws inside the Ohio Statehouse. The virtual tour will walk viewers through the process by viewing public spaces, hearing rooms and at least one of the legislative chambers.

Learn more about law making at the Statehouse by taking part in our virtual tour at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 21. You can join through Facebook Live, and you do not need a Facebook account to participate.
