Black History Month at the Ohio Statehouse
The Ohio Statehouse will celebrate Black History Month throughout February with a special exhibition and free historical performances each Tuesday at noon.
Live performances by “We’ve Known Rivers”
We’ve Known Rivers is a group of dynamic storytellers that commemorate the African American experience in American history through engaging first-person presentations. Each performance will take place at noon in the Atrium.
Feb 6 - “Good News, the Chariot's Coming: African-American Women Who Rode for Freedom” by Annette Jefferson
Feb 13 - “Stories and Songs of the Black Experience” by Paisha Thomas
Feb 20 - “Fighting for Freedom: Ohio's Black Civil War Soldiers” by Anthony Gibbs
Feb 27 - “The Right to Vote: Stories of Struggle and Resilience” by Sandra Quick
