Photo Permit Process


The Capitol Square (CS) includes the Ohio Statehouse, Senate Building, Atrium, underground parking facility and exterior plazas. The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) invites you to host your next photo shoot at the Ohio Statehouse.


All approved photo shoots must be planned and executed consistent with the Ohio Revised Code, OAC and the CSRAB policies. The CSRAB special event photo permit process is as follows.



The use of public spaces of the CS is granted on a first-come, first-served basis. The CS is available for permitted photo permits every day of the year except for national holidays when the building is closed. CS facilities and spaces are available 8 a.m.– 5 p.m. Monday–Friday, and 11 a.m.– 5 p.m. Saturday–Sunday for interior photo shoots and anytime for exterior photo shoots.

Permit Application

All requests for photo permits must include the following: Permit Application and $50 non-refundable Permit Application Fee to the Special Events department.




Submitting Permit Application

Please email, scan or fax your Permit Application to or 614-752-5209. Upon receipt, the $50 non-refundable Permit Application fee can be process via credit card in person, over the phone or online.

Permit Application Packet Review  

The CSRAB will acknowledge receipt of and consider requests only after all items have been submitted. A CSRAB representative will notify applicants by email of the Executive Director’s determination within 10 days of submission of the completed documents. The terms of this agreement may not be transferred, assigned or sublet.
