STATEHOUSE CALENDAR

This exhibit will present a little-known alternative story to what inspired Washington Irving to write his short story: “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” 

An original American Revolutionary War sword combined with other objects will illustrate the tale of a secret mission to eliminate a Hessian mercenary operating in upstate New York.

Presented as a “history mystery”, visitors can decide if they feel this story influenced Washington Irving in his masterful storytelling.
