2024-04-29 Civil War Encampment - medical history The 2024 Civil War Encampment at the Ohio Statehouse and the Repose of Lincoln was a great success. Students and the public learned about 1860s life with cannon firings and demonstrations by historical reenactors, including medical, ladies aid society, music, infantry, games, coins, food and more. Inside the Rotunda, a replica coffin was on display where Lincoln lay in repose on April 29, 1865. A 36-star flag from 1865 was on exhibit in the Ohio Statehouse courtesy of the Van Tilburg family and the Ohio History Connection. General Sherman appeared thanks to the James A.
