Capitol Ohio : 109 - Rotunda
The Rotunda is a large, impressive space in the Statehouse that spreads light to other areas of the building through the skylight in its dome. The skylight features a hand-painted Great Seal of Ohio in its center. The seal is a reproduction of the 1861 version used when the Rotunda was completed. The restored skylight was funded through a penny-collection through Bob Evans Farms in schools across the state. The Rotunda floor is made of hand-cut marble from around the world. For example, the salmon-colored stones are from Portugal, the black and green ones are from Vermont, and the white are from Italy.
