Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Stephanie Howse is a graduate of the Cleveland School of the Arts where she studied vocal and instrumental music. After high school, Stephanie earned her undergraduate degree in Civil Environmental Engineering from Florida A&M University and her Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from Cleveland State University.

 

Stephanie is Co-founder of Footprints, a leadership development and mentoring organization dedicated to nurturing and cultivating a positive self-image in girls ages 9 – 17, while building character on the principles of Self Respect; Life Endeavors; Community and the Arts. Stephanie’s career journey includes: being an engineer; participating in an Executive Fellowship program experiencing firsthand the interconnections of the nonprofit, public, private and education sectors; working in politics, serving as a Consultant specializing in youth development, sustainability and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) education; and working in education. 

 

Stephanie served in the Ohio House of Representatives as the State Representative – House District 11, which includes parts of Cleveland, Newburgh Heights and Garfield Heights. The committees she served on are: Community & Family Advancement (Ranking Member); Transportation & Infrastructure; and Energy & Natural Resources.  Stephanie believes a quote by Dorothy Height best exemplifies her commitment to service, which states “We have to improve life, not just for those who have the most skills and those who know how to manipulate the system. But also, for those who often have so much to give but never get the opportunity”. 

 

Outside of her professional and community involvement, Stephanie is a sports enthusiast and loves to travel, read, cook and shop
